About this tool
Amazon’s own KDP help page (Make Your Book More Discoverable with Keywords) gives every book seven keyword boxes, about 50 characters each. Those boxes are not the same as your three browse categories, and they are not Amazon Ads keywords. Amazon already indexes the title, subtitle, and author name, and it tells you to leave out words covered there, plus subjective claims (“bestseller”), time-sensitive language (“new,” “on sale”), other authors, Amazon program names (Kindle Unlimited, KDP Select), quotation marks, and commas. Separate words with spaces. A customer can then match any of those words. This generator writes seven boxes from your excerpt, strips what Amazon says to avoid, and does not invent search volume. Amazon does not publish that number.

How to use it
- Enter the title and subtitle exactly as they will appear on KDP. Those words are removed from the suggestions.
- Add your author name if you want it kept out of the boxes too.
- Paste a chapter or a long excerpt — at least a few paragraphs, not a one-line pitch.
- Generate. Copy a phrase into each KDP keyword box.
- Read the intent line. If a phrase describes a different book, delete it.
Tips for fiction authors
- A box can hold several words. “small town mystery missing sister” is one slot, not four.
- Do not paste your title into a keyword box. Amazon already ranks the title field.
- If you only have six usable phrases, leave the seventh blank. A stuffed box of leftovers hurts more than an empty one.
- Pair this with the title length checker before you upload. Keywords do not fix a title that repeats the same words.
- Re-run after a big revision. A phrase about a subplot you cut should not stay in the metadata.

How many keywords does Amazon KDP allow?
