Free Writing Tools for Fiction Authors

Polish a draft before you publish, or use these tools while you write books free with AI on Entangled Text. 48 browser tools for manuscript checks, planning, and Kindle/KDP formatting. No login on most tools — paste a chapter, get a report, keep working.

A free AI novel writer is only half the job — you also need to remove AI sameness before KDP. This hub is that second half. Start with Manuscript Cleanup for filter words, adverbs, and passive voice; then use blurb, cover, and Kindle formatter tools when the prose is ready. Pair any tool with Story Studio when you want outline → chapters → export in one project.

From Entangled Text — free AI novel writer and book studio. Analyzers and formatters run in your browser; optional AI tools and signed-in history send only what’s needed for that feature.

Frequently asked questions about our writing tools

Are these writing tools really free?

Yes. Browser analyzers and formatters are free with no account required. Optional AI features (covers, manga/comic art, some generators) use a free daily allowance; Pro or Ultra unlocks higher limits.

Is my manuscript uploaded to your servers?

Analyzers and transformers run in your browser. Guests are not asked to upload a novel. If you sign in, optional “My runs” can store a private copy of a scan so you can reopen it — we don’t use drafts to train models. Generative AI tools send only the prompt/text needed for that generation.

Do these tools use AI?

Most analyzers and formatters are rule-based — not generative AI. AI Manga Studio, AI Comic Studio, the book cover generator, and a few Kestrel helpers include optional AI generation; layout, lettering, and export still run in your browser.

What is the best tool to start with?

Try the Manuscript Cleanup Report for a full snapshot (filter words, adverbs, passive voice, readability). Then drill into individual checkers for the metrics that scored highest.

Who are these tools for?

Fiction authors polishing AI-assisted drafts, self-publishers preparing KDP manuscripts, and writers who want quick prose diagnostics before hiring an editor.

Can I use these tools on a full novel?

Yes. Paste a chapter or an entire manuscript. Very large texts may slow your browser slightly. Analysis still happens locally; only optional signed-in history or AI generation sends data for that feature.

How do these compare to Grammarly?

Grammarly targets general grammar. These tools target fiction craft: dialogue tags, show-don't-tell, chapter pacing, KDP metadata, and series continuity — tuned for novelists.

How do these tools fit with write books free with AI?

Draft in Entangled Text Story Studio (or paste any AI draft here), run cleanup and KDP helpers on this hub, then export EPUB/DOCX from Ship or the Kindle formatter. The tools stay free either way.
