Continuity for Invented Technology

Science fiction readers are the most continuity-sensitive audience in fiction. They notice when the ship that "can't land in atmosphere" lands in atmosphere. She has promised herself she will never again sit on findings — but announcing this one starts a countdown she cannot control. Central tension: drill and answer, or wait and be safe. Every chapter shortens the 41-hour pattern and raises the cost of both choices.
