Pocket FM has launched Sherpa, an AI-powered platform built to help writers develop fiction that runs for hundreds of episodes, according to Storyboard18. The system is designed to track plot, characters and unresolved conflicts across long stretches of story in ways a single writer might struggle to hold in their head.
Sherpa is organized around what Pocket FM calls "Narrative Intelligence," meant to follow characters, settings, relationships, conflicts and events as a story unfolds, Storyboard18 reported. Rather than treating each episode as a standalone unit, the platform treats a story as one connected world.
The system splits the work of writing across several specialized agents. An Ideation Agent develops story concepts. A Planning Agent handles structure and sequencing. A Research Agent supplies factual and contextual detail, and a prose agent drafts scenes and episodes. A Feedback Agent evaluates the work and suggests revisions, while a Narrative World Model keeps long-term story memory intact.
That memory function is meant to solve a specific problem in serialized fiction: continuity. Pocket FM said an event from 50 or 100 episodes earlier can affect what happens much later, and that characters need to retain what they know while unresolved conflicts stay consistent, Storyboard18 reported.
Why the company built it this way
Prateek Dixit, Pocket FM's co-founder, framed Sherpa as a bet that the next advance in AI-driven entertainment will come from systems that understand stories, not just from models that write better sentences.
"That is what we are building with Sherpa by Pocket FM. Narrative Intelligence means understanding the world a creator is building, reasoning about where the story could go and maintaining that understanding as the story grows, while keeping the creator in control of the vision and the decisions that shape it," Dixit said.
Pocket FM's Head of AI, Vasu Sharma, said Sherpa runs on the company's own proprietary models, trained on what he called a data flywheel that keeps improving as more content is made and consumed.
"This gives a single creator access to storytelling capabilities that previously required entire studios, specialized teams and massive production budgets. With the right tools, one creator can increasingly build and scale an entire fictional universe," Sharma said.
Pocket FM said that flywheel draws on a large base of existing content and audience behavior: more than 770,000 titles and 550,000 creators, over 5.5 billion hours of playtime, and more than 1.4 million hours of text and voice content across millions of story arcs. The company said it also has minute-by-minute engagement and retention data, which it uses to refine its models and evaluation systems.
Pocket FM reported that its annualised content production has grown 75-fold, to more than 2.5 million hours, alongside a 10-fold increase in the number of what it calls blockbuster titles. Storyboard18 did not report a timeframe for that growth.
A working writer's take
Ajit Kumar, author of Brahmyodha: The Destroyer and an early Sherpa user, described the tool as a way to get past the stretches where writing stalls rather than a replacement for the writer.
"Every writer begins with a story, but between that first thought and the finished book lie many difficulties such as false starts, lost ideas, and long stretches when the words do not come. Sherpa can help a writer through some of these obstacles, offering a little guidance when the journey becomes difficult. It does not take the place of the writer; it helps the writer keep going. And when a writer can keep going, there is a greater chance that more stories will find their way into the world," Kumar said.
Storyboard18 reported that Kumar's story had received 275.2 million plays on Pocket FM as of August 2026, giving some sense of the scale individual titles can reach on the platform.
